My Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Deseret Baby Book. My birth mother started the Journal portion when I was born.
Mother made six entries of decreasing length. The first was the story of my birth, and how hard it was on her. The last, when I was 4, was documenting an injury.
Father took over in 1982. This is odd. It lines up with their marriage timeline. A year after I was born Mother took the three children and separated from Father. She moved to her home country – more than 15,000 miles away from Father. It makes complete sense that Mother stopped attending to the baby books at this time. She had left Father and came back to the United States with his three children and her conditions of satisfaction.
Father wrote four entries before stopping. The last one is from when we lived out west. You see my young handwriting on the last entry. I was six years old. I wrote:
We moved to (city redacted). We are living in (town redacted). I’m going to (school redacted).
me at six years old.
It is very fitting that this is the last entry in my book. I was raped by the children Mother was babysitting 8+ months prior to this entry. A chance at a normal life ended when I was six.
