A survivor.

What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

Five abused children, one wearing a mask. The little girl covering her ears was not abused.

I am a survivor. That is the legacy I want to leave.

I overcame incredible odds to make a life for myself.

My parents actively worked to prevent my success and happiness.

My parents did not help me in any way, I made it on my own.

The church I was raised in colluded with a dirty Mormon cop to a derail Child Protective Services investigation in 1990. My teacher watched it happen. She tried to stop the Cover Up. She tried. I still talk with her, 35 years later. She tried to save me.

I overcame learning that the institutions of society meant to protect me were the very instruments the Church used to silence me.

I am no longer silent.

I survived, despite the LDS Mormon Church and my parents crimes.

I am here.

I am brave.

I am a survivor.
